Bio:

The creative force that is Cahn & Yang consists of vocalist Greg Cahn and multi-instrumentalist Alex Yang.

They began their musical journey by forming a rock band called The Driving Force in 2002. Within two years of writing, recording, and performing in Bloomington, Indiana they were discovered and signed by independent label, Winedark Records. Through Winedark, Grammy award winning producer Gary Katz, best known for producing Steely Dan, invited Greg and Alex to his Connecticut studio for a weekend long recording session.

Immediately following the three-day trip and before their return flight even took off, Katz signed on with Winedark to record their debut full-length studio album.
Katz put together a “dream team” production at New York’s legendary Electric Ladyland Studios, with mixing by Grammy award winning producer, Hugh Padgham (Sting, Peter Gabriel, Phi Collins) and mastering by legend Tom Coyne at Sterling Sound.

Unfortunately, the Driving Force’s debut album and record deal with Winedark fell victim to label in fighting. The label imploded and the band split up, but Cahn/Yang’s passion and confidence in the wake of this setback was undeniable. They left the Midwest and moved to Los Angeles in the fall of 2006, quickly resuming their music career.

It didn’t take long for the new duo to attract attention. After being introduced to TV/Film producer Jonathan McHugh, who was the former Zomba Label Group Vice President of A&R, they dove into the music licensing and publishing side of the business. Cahn/Yang wrote songs for the Justin Time library, which have been placed in the Melrose Place Season IV DVD. They followed that up by having nine songs, both originals and re-makes placed in Discovery Planet Green’s new environmental challenge series Battleground Earth: Ludacris vs. Tommy Lee. That led them to being commissioned by video producers Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason (creators of “Designing Women” and “Evening Shade”) to record a version of The Kink’s “You Really Got Me” as the lead in song in the 2008 DNC Video tribute to Hillary Clinton, presented in Denver and shown on every major TV network in the world.

Cahn/Yang’s body of work is growing and this creative young duo’s energy, drive and talent is in perfect sync with today’s rapidly changing, visual media dominated 21st century music scene.
